DoxTract Template Basics
Draw and connect Fixed Header and Value Box
- Go to Doxtract Template Editor page. (Follow create template instruction if not already done)
- Create a Fixed Header box.
- Create a Value box.
- Connect the blue circle on the Fixed Header box to the green circle on the Value box.
- Expected Outcome:
The boxes become linked. Moving the Fixed Header box will automatically move the connected Value box when data is being extracted.
Draw Fixed Header Boxes
- Go to Doxtract Template Editor page. (Follow create template instruction if not already done)
- In your document, identify text areas that will never change across new files (e.g. company name, invoice label, total, table headers).
- Draw a rectangle around each of these stable text areas.
- These rectangles are called Fixed Header Boxes.
- The purpose of Fixed Header Boxes is to match the template with new documents.
- They also help determine and locate the positions of Value Boxes.
Draw Value Boxes
- Go to Doxtract Template Editor page. (Follow create template instruction if not already done)
- Draw a rectangle around the text you want to extract from new files (e.g. invoice number, total amount, date).
- Provide a field name for each rectangle you create.
- During extraction, the system will automatically detect these boxes in new documents.
- The extracted output will be returned using the field names you defined.
Connect Fixed Header and Value Boxes
- Go to Doxtract Template Editor page. (Follow create template instruction if not already done)
- Move your mouse to a Fixed Header Box.
- Click and drag from the blue circle on the Fixed Header Box.
- Connect it to the green circle on the Value Box.
- A line will be created between the two boxes.
- This means the boxes are now connected.
- In new documents, connected boxes will move together automatically.
Extract Table Column
- Go to Doxtract Template Editor page. (Follow create template instruction if not already done)
- Draw a Fixed Header Box around the table column headers.
- Draw a Value Box around the corresponding table column values.
- Assign a field name from the left sidebar for each column mapping.
- Click and drag from the blue circle on the table column header box to the green circle on the table column value box to connect them.
- If the table body can expand in height, enable expand height from the left sidebar.
- Connect the expanded section to a Fixed Header Box below the column value box.
- When the lower Fixed Header Box moves, the height of the table column value box will automatically increase or decrease accordingly.
